Today was just one of those days. Normally I wake up early (7am) so that I can get myself ready for the day and to work at a somewhat decent time. Today though, I woke up at 10:30am and it completely threw me off. I felt so behind and unorganized all day. I hardly took breaks and felt I was constantly forgetting things while I glanced at the time on my office computer. So after I set up our Prime Rib & Seafood Buffet I decided that I would call it a day and just have a longer day tomorrow.
Tonight was probably one of the first nights in awhile my roommates and I have actually had off together. Normally Conner works mornings, Brandy works nights and I usually work both. So Brandy decided she’d make us dinner, which
as expected turned out amazing. Chicken Parmesan and Pasta, which is totally something I shouldn’t be eating… at least it should be whole wheat. I’m trying to eat healthy, but it was a long day and it is the weekend.
I decided since I have so much beer in the fridge that I should probably start sampling them so I can decide what I want to do with my beer lines at work. I felt like it was a Flying Monkeys kind of night. So I opened the fridge and took a quick look at my assorted six pack sitting in the fridge. I’m actually a very indecisive person at times so I just grabbed one at random. Hoptical Illusion Almost Pale Ale was my first choice. At first glance you can’t help but notice the label, it’s fluorescent and they use excellent colour contrast. The beer pours a beautiful dark mahogany colour with medium head. Aromas of Citrus and Caramel, with a great balance of hop. With my first taste I got hit with a citrusy hoppiness then balanced out with a malty rich taste. Mouthfeel was medium-moderate body, a bit airy. Overall I really enjoyed the beer, I personally like hoppy beers I was though happy I drank it prior to dinner, I find I prefer a lighter beer (if not wine) with chicken and pasta.
Now since I needed something to drink with dinner I went on the lighter side of things but still sticking with the Flying Monkeys theme. Antigravity Light Ale was my best option. 
The label on the bottle is a little more tame then the previous but still creative with great colour flow. The beer pours semi-cloudy yellow colour with minimal head that dies down moderately fast and leaves some lacing. Aromas of grain and tea followed with a light citrus hop. With my first taste it was light but crisp, grainy with a honey like sweetness, finishing with a light hop. Mouthfeel was light bodied with good carbonation. Overall a great light beer, which I NEVER thought I’d say about a Craft beer. Most Craft beer are so hoppy (not that I’m complaining) I’d drink it again though for sure.
Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery is located in Barrie, ON. Unfortunately it’s not like it’s a short drive for me so I’ll have to plan a trip to see this brewery sometime soon. Highly recommend their products so far.
As much as I wanted to continue tasting, I realized I probably should get to bed at a somewhat half decent time so I’m not a zombie again tomorrow. I have a lot to get done tomorrow.
So with that being said I should probably go to bed now. More beer decisions, Halloween organizing, menu planning tomorrow…
