Bite My Beer: GLB Canuck Jalapeño Boats

The last two years have been a crazy journey but now I’m back to continue to write about my love of beer. I could spend this whole post blabbering on about the last two years but instead I thought I’d start off with my first post back to be a delicious recipe. Let’s dive right in shall we?

When it comes to entertaining, especially in the warmer months it is always nice to have an appetizer that is not only easy to make but relatively quick, Jalapeno Boats made with Great Lakes Canuck Pale Ale is just that. The recipe is quick and easy and will sure to hit the spot for whatever the occasion. This is also a great recipe to try on the BBQ as well for all you lucky people who have one.

I loved using Canuck for this recipe because the flavor of grapefruit and pine is a great combination with the cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and pepper without being over powering. Also with it’s year round availability at not only their Retail Store but many LCBO & The Beer Store locations it makes it easy to become a staple for not only this recipe but for just being stocked in the fridge.

BEER LAUNCH: Muskoka Releases Winter Seasonals

Winter is coming and with that Muskoka Brewery releases their winter brews, Winterweiss and Winter Beard (Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout)

WinterweissFor the first time Winterweiss will be available in a 473ml can format, generally being a draught only option at local establishments. This 5% abv Dunkelweizen is the perfect pairing for any winter meal or stands alone after a long day of outdoor winter fun!

When it comes to food pairings I like to play with all the flavours going on. With the yeast and wheat characteristics of a Hefeweizen and the malty richness of a Munich Dunkel, Winterweiss makes a lovely beer to pair with rich meats & cheeses. I took the opportunity to break out the fondue pot! Stay tuned for a later post of what I came up with.

Winterweiss is currently available at the LCBO & The Beer Store in Ontario from November 1st until February 28th.

With all the excitement of the Winterweiss release we cannot forget the return of Winter Beard!Winter Beard With previous years being vintage – Muskoka Brewery came back this year with a fresh batch of their Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout. Once again it has been released in the 750ml format, caged and corked.

Over the years I’ve done a lot of fun recipes with Winter Beard – this year I came up with something totally different which I can’t wait to post about. Until then take a look at my previous posts of some ideas.

Winter Beard is available for purchase at the LCBO.

It’s been awhile! A year and a few months actually. So many things have changed since my last post, my location, job, I also decided to embrace florescent coloured hair. It’s been an interesting year but I’m back now and so stoked to share this new beer adventure with everyone.

So what can you expect from The Beer Gypsy? I spent some time picking out favourite past posts, figuring out what I really enjoy doing and narrowing it down into segments that can be posted frequently or at random. Here’s an idea of what you’ll see,

  • New Beer Releases
  • Bite My Beer” (Cooking with Beer Recipes)
  • Drink Beer Here” (NEW SEGMENT – Finding bars around Ontario & beyond that push Craft Beer to the next level.)
  • Beer & Food Pairings
  • Events (Festivals, Tap Takeovers, Beer Dinners, etc.)
  • Contests! (Yes, That’s right. I’ve teamed up with a bunch of great local artisans & breweries to deliver you fun contests once a month!)
  • Collaborations (I’m really fortunate to have some awesome friends who love beer just as much as I do.)

To tell you the truth I can’t wait to get started on everything. I couldn’t have turned The Beer Gypsy into what it is without the support of my family, friends, and of course all my readers!

Over the next couple weeks I have a couple new beers to talk about, new recipes just in time for the changing seasons, & a collaboration that’s been in the works for months! I’ll also squeeze in some beer events here and there.

Here we go again…
